This rally to Oil City was orchestrated by club member Martin Farrell! The first stop was to visit with Bob Fry, proprietor of Short Street Motors in Oil City (which is housed in the first Quaker State Sterling gas station). From there, we drove to the Oil City Boat Club - an old bathing & canoeing club built by Standard Oil’s National Transit Company in 1888. The club is on the beautiful banks of the Allegheny River and boasts a club house and various cottages dating from 1910 to present.

This event was coordinated by the club to support former club member Wally Hunt. Following Wally's near fatal stroke in October 2016, Club members organized the show & fundraiser at the Hornby School (a cause near & dear to Wally). The Museum Director was very appreciative and said it was the most money they raised in one day. While Wally recovered from the stroke, he passed away months later in a heavy equipment accident. He is missed by all those who knew him! RIP Wally!

We planned a rally to the Ashtabula Maritime Museum and Lift Bridge built in 1925. Only a few went because of the rain in the forecast. It was a nice day until we stopped at The Crow's Nest for lunch. A gentleman came in asking who owned the little convertibles and warned us that severe thunderstorms were headed for us. We took off and all made it back home before the rain fell!
